About Anna Elwood BMus, PGCE, PGDip
Anna gained her 1st class BMus from the University of Sheffield and her Postgraduate Performance Certificate from the Royal Northern College of Music, where she first developed a passion for string quartet playing studying with Nina Cropper and Christopher Rowland. She has performed with the Rolling Stones, Jennifer Lopez, and played for the Al-Nahyan family, the Queen, Tony Blair and many other world dignitaries. She has given concerts with a wide variety of prestigious chamber groups, quartets and orchestras, including most recently the Abu Dhabi National Symphony Orchestra and the 4tissimo String Quartet.
Her desire to share her love of music with others led her to complete the PGCE with Specialist Instrumental Teaching. Throughout her career she has been equally invested in teaching and coaching young string players and also passionate about building up performing arts departments to offer every student a world class musical education. She has worked in UK Music Services and also run her own private teaching studio for over 20 years. She has a particularly vast level of experience with older child and adult beginners, crafting an individualised approach that leads them to success quickly.
She has worked as Head of Performing Arts in a variety of prestigious international schools. In this exciting and varied role she was Musical Director for a wide array of Musicals and concerts, designed and implemented music, drama and dance curriculums from Nursery to Year 6 and brought international artists to work with the students including Firdaus Orchestra and renowned world music expert Andy Gleadhill.
Violin lessons take place in her purpose built studio near Newton Abbot in South Devon. Lessons can be 30, 45 or 60 minutes long every week or two weeks depending on your experience and musical goals.
