About Andy
HI there! I am a Stockport / Manchester based music tutor. I specialise in Electric / Acoustic / Bass guitar & Music Theory. I can help you gain the skills for many styles linked to music - from Blues to Indie - Jazz to metal - All music is unique in it's own way, and has something within it worthy of attention.
Any age, gender & lifestyle is welcome!
...
The priority, I feel, and at least in the beginning stages, is to ground ourselves in the learning of songs & melodies you love - songs that move you, purely for their feel and melody - not the technical prowess within. You can only guide through what you have experienced yourself, and this for me is where it started - as I'm sure it was the same for many others.
For me, in the embryonic stages, it was the influence from people like my dad that initiated that curiosity for music. He would often sit, back to the radiator, next to the hi fi, listening to something new or nostalgic. He would then see me by the door, that was ajar, and offer me a brief listen on the headphones. It was simple moments like this that helped me grow an appreciation for music.
As time progressed, I received, by surprise, my first electric guitar - It was the mid 90's, so guitar music, especially oasis, was in abundance. They were the perfect catalyst for my initial stages.
After Oasis (& others), came Queen, Gary moore, Led Zep etc - the list goes on. Looking back, it was a gradual incline of everything really, with nothing forced - Technical ability, repertoire, styles etc.
So, this is what I want students of mine to experience too. Nothing forced and with no rush to a "finish line" ... because, there is no finish line - It's continuous, never ending and always expanding.
I will look forward to joining you, whoever you may be, on your musical journey ... and to make some noise on the way ;)
