About Alison Langer
Alison ‘s lessons are a relaxed and safe space to explore your voice. Making a student feel comfortable and allowing the freedom to express yourself with your voice within a safe parameter of technical learning and support, is very important to Alison’s teaching ethos.
Alison is a professional Opera singer who has been teaching alongside his career for the last 10 years. She teaches 1 to 1 lessons in singing and piano at a local music school and also provides private lessons (in person or online) at her studio in Harpenden.
Alison teaches a range of musical styles but with a focus on a classical technical foundation, whatever the genre of music. Most recently, Alison has been supporting West End performers in their vocal journey, in a hope to ensure longevity in the physical and vocal demands their performances require.
Teaching in Singing All lessons start by getting to know the student and what their vocal goal is. The lessons begin with a vocal warm up and exercises aimed at building the strength, flexibility and general healthy-habits of the whole of the singer’s instrument.
Breath support and physical strength are important, as well as understanding the vocal styles and stories surrounding the songs.
When working on particular songs, Alison helps to imply the vocal techniques and how they can support the voice through the song, as well as vocal development.
Alison’s Professional Experience Alison is a professional Opera singer and sings in major opera houses around the Uk and abroad.
She is set to make her Royal Opera House debut in the summer of 2025, and is a regular principal soloist at Opera Holland Park, Opera North and several other places in the UK and internationally.
Singing alongside her teaching, gives Alison a first hand ear at the current vocal qualities and voices singing professionally, allowing her to impart this knowledge through her lessons and her own vocal practice.
