About Alex
Alex Raine recently completed his undergraduate studies at the Royal College of Music where he studied with Yossi Zivoni. He is now developing a diverse freelance career that prominently includes work in orchestral performance, chamber music, and education.
As an orchestral player, Alex has performed across the U.K. and internationally with highly respected artists and conductors. He has worked with various ensembles including Royal Northern Sinfonia, BBC Concert Orchestra and Manchester Camerata, and has also performed alongside the Chamber Orchestra of Europe and the Irish Chamber Orchestra. He has also been selected for the Overture mentoring scheme with the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House for their 24-25 season.
Chamber music concerts have included performances at the Southbank Centre, St. John’s Smith Square, and Fulham Festival. As a soloist and recitalist, Alex has performed extensively across the U.K., earning several prizes and awards. He has participated in solo masterclasses with renowned violinists Michael Vaiman, Francesca Dego, Stanislav Pronin, and Alexander Rozhdestvensky.
Alex has also been involved in theatrical productions, which has included a solo appearance in the National Theatre’s production Travelling Light.
During his formative years, Alex was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain from 2015 to 2018. He participated in prominent events including the BBC Proms, the 2017 Festival Berlioz in France, and a well-received CD recording for Chandos Records.
Committed to music education, Alex was involved in NYO Inspire projects and the RCM Sparks scheme, mentoring teenage musicians. He currently holds violin teaching positions at Opera North’s Young Musician’s Studio and at Durham University.
