Alex has been a music tutor since the age of 17 when, after passing his Rockschool Grade 8 a year or so before, he set up his own drum teaching business and taught from home and in a local school. Since then, he has gone on to achieve a 1st Class Degree in Music Performance & Production at the University of East London and tutored for Rocksteady Music School as well as privately on bass and guitar. He gets great satisfaction from seeing someone take on knowledge he has helped them develop and realise their potential in a particular instrument.

What can you expect from taking lessons with Alex?

Well, Alex believes that anyone can learn to play an instrument to whatever standard they want, so if you take lessons with him, expect to be encouraged to take that extra step and put in that extra effort because HE KNOWS YOU CAN DO IT! He likes to let the student guide the lessons, he finds that if you are choosing what you want to learn, be it a particular song or style, then you will enjoy and get more out of the lessons. He's also a true believer in using the ear as well as the eye when learning an instrument, this is why when he's taught you the basics of the instrument, you'll get right into learning a song of your choosing and practicing using your ears to identify chords, notes, rhythms or riffs.
