About Adrian

Adrian is an award-winning opera singer with an ongoing professional career spanning over two decades all around the world, ranging from the Royal Opera House and BBC Proms in London to Tokyo's Opera City and the Esplanade Concert Hall, Singapore. He fell into teaching because colleagues and students have increasingly sought him out for lessons and advice.

He is a graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the National Opera Studio, London. Additional studies took him to the Bayreuth Festival (Germany), the Steans Institute at the Ravinia Festival (Chicago), The Samling Institute, The International Vocal Arts Institute (Tel Aviv), Fondation Royaumont (France) and the Britten-Pears Young Artist Programme in Aldeburgh.

His teaching style is informed not only by his many great teachers and coaches, but also by what he has learnt working in theatres all around the world. Although there can be a lot of cultish ideology around classical technique, the last few decades seen unprecedented breakthroughs in our understanding of vocal anatomy and function. With this in mind, Adrian's approach is practical and modern, with an emphasis on being able to demonstrate everything that he teaches.

Of course, singing well is only half of the story. Discovering how to bring your interpretation to life, truly inhabiting a character, is a journey of self-discovery which he would love to be part of.
