About Abigail
Currently working as a secondary head of music department Abigail can offer GCSE guidance and specialises in Singing, Piano, Music Production and Composition. Having worked in both the music industry and education for over 12 years and since graduating from Leeds College of Music in 2010 Abigail is equipped to guide you on both technique and theory and also how to apply your musicianship in the real life world of music.
As well as tutoring Abigail works as a professional performer, composer and producer. Her latest collaboration was with Icelandic artist Einar Indra where she provides lead vocals for a track released on Moller Records.
Abigail takes only up to 6 students at a time so as to be fully dedicated to each of her students singing development.
TEACHING SINGING
In your first singing lesson with Abigail you will receive an assessment of your voice and feedback on areas to focus. During Abigails years of tutoring she has become fully aware of the importance of making students feel relaxed as they arrive into their first lesson. With this mind and Abigails teaching style focusing heavily on breathing techniques and relieving tension in the body you would also go through some meditative breath work so as to feel as comfortable and grounded as possible. Thus enabling the voice to move freely. From there onwards you would receive a plan from Abigail specifically catered to your singing goals. Whether that be taking grades, working for a performance or audition, or simply to have fun and discover some new found confidence in your vocal abilities.
TEACHING COMPOSITION, SONGWRITING AND MUSIC THEORY
During your composition and theory lessons Abigail will at first work a plan with you to best suit your goals. Whether that be to focus purely on theory and work towards a grade for example with ABRSM examination board. Or to support you in developing your songwriting and composition skills by lessons in arrangement, harmony and referencing genres as a way to further inspire and deepen your knowledge and skills in composition and songwriting.
TEACHING MUSIC PRODUCTION
Abigail can provide a programme tailored to your specific requirements and is working with Logic Pro or Garageband. For beginners in music production you would firstly learn the fundamentals of your chosen software to work with. This would include recording setup and using midi, creating project templates to make...
