About Aaron

Aaron will unlock your musical potential, whatever form it takes! With a fun, adaptable, and inspiring approach (although exams can also be worked towards), Aaron is able to introduce Improvisation, Performance, Composition, and Theory within the contexts of Classical Music, Jazz, Popular Music, and even Sound Art and more experimental forms! Aaron will be able to tailor his approach to a wide variety of musical styles, allowing you or your child the ability to work within the genres they find the most engaging. Additionally, Aaron has experience working with children with SEN needs in schools, workshops, and privately, including ASD diagnoses, ADHD, Attachment Disorder, Schizophrenia, Anxiety, Physical Disabilites, and Mutism, so if you're looking for some more specialised tuition, then look no further!

What Can You Expect From a First Lesson with Aaron?
A first lesson with Aaron begins with an informal conversation encompassing the student's relationship with music (what they like to listen to, what they'd like to play), as well as who they are outside of their relationship with music (such as any other interests they have, and what's important to them). Aaron's approach is person-centred, and this begins right from the first lesson. Next, Aaron will ask the student what they know already about the piano - any pieces they may know, or have memorised, any notation they may be familiar with, or if they know where middle C is. From here, Aaron will introduce a first piece - a small and accessible exercise that will fit in with the pupil's musical aspirations. Aaron will play through the piece, before teaching the student how to play it - observing how they learn, which approaches work best for them, and where to go from here!

Aaron's Experience
Over the past decade, Aaron has taught children from ages four and up, and adults of all kinds. He has taught privately, as well as within schools (1:1, in small groups, and in workshops), universities, disabled children's services, residentials, and music charities. His clientele have often (although not always) had SEN needs such as ASD diagnoses, ADHD, Attachment Disorder, Schizophrenia, Anxiety, Physicial Disabilities, Mutism, and may have been students at SEN schools (ALD, PMLD, and SEMH), or mainstream schools. Many have also been in foster care, or have been home-schooled. However, regardless of any diagnoses, Aaron's approach always begins the same -...
