Extending Your Range

Sing10 Idea Number 3: Extending Your Range

Our fabulous tutor Charlotte V takes you through a cracking warm up: Bella Signora!

A drummer has to think about how the stick is held. For the violinist, it's the bow. As Charlotte explains, for singers thinking about and playing with the position of the jaw, the tongue can make a huge difference to the sound you make.

What's brilliant about this clip is how Charlotte checks what's happening when she sings. She shows you where you should the tingling sensation of resonance!

We also love using the "ng" sound as a springboard to extend your range. With your jaw in the right place and your chin still, soon you could be hitting notes you've never dreamed of before!

This clip is part of our Sing10 event: A challenge to sing for 10 minutes everyday in July. It's not too late to take the challenge!
